辛巳年夏,应邀访问美国哈佛大学三月余,除了讲课、会友、逛书店和游览,几乎天天泡在燕京图书馆里,东翻西看,摘录抄引,得读书笔记数十则,其中泰半可补历年编著之疏漏,现略作整理,以餐同好。刘半农的《五十年来北平戏剧史材》序1998年11月,浙江人民出版社出版拙编《刘半农书话》,书中搜录刘半农各个不同时期为自己和他人著译所作序跋四十余篇,三分之二为集外文。然而,仍有遗珠之憾,1932年7月,刘半农为周志辅辑《五十年来北平戏剧史材》所作的序文即为其中之一。全文如下:
