Objective: To investigate the expression and significance of CXCL12 and E-cadherin in the lesions of condyloma acuminatum caused by low-risk human papillomavirus (HPV6, HPV11). Methods: Samples of low-risk HPV6 and HPV-11 were screened from specimens of condyloma acuminatum. The expression of CXCL12 and E-cadherin was detected by real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR in normal preputial tissue. Results: The expression of CXCL12 was down-regulated by 20.23 fold (P = 0.001) and the expression of E-cadherin was up-regulated by 3.129 (P> 0.05) in the skin lesions induced by low-risk HPV infection. CONCLUSIONS: CXCL12 is lowly expressed in low-risk HPV-infected skin lesions and the up-regulation of E-cadherin may be related to the suppression of local immune responses by HPV and the alteration of adhesion between Langerhans cells and keratinocytes. This may be due to the persistence of HPV Infection and condyloma acuminata recurrence mechanism plays an important role.
