20世纪30年代,废名曾在北大课堂将他对新诗的特别思考体现在每一个主题讲座中,其中对新诗成就的判断颇引人思考。他说:“中国的新文学算是很有成绩了,因为新诗有成绩。”~②废名对新诗成绩的认可一语中的。然而,时隔半个世纪,在当代中学语文教学中,新诗的分量却是公认的不堪想象的轻,新诗能否承受如此之轻,这是教材编写者和教学大纲制定者等相关人士需要进一步探讨和审慎对待的问题。我们姑且不谈新诗是反映现当代人思想与情感最切合的工具,姑且不论新诗丰富新奇的想象力,姑且不说
