Vitamin A and zinc are micronutrients associated with disease affliction in northeastern Thailand. The concentrations of serum vitamin A and zinc in healthy population of 23-75 years old in northeastern Thailand were studied. Vitamin A was analyzed by high performance liquid chromatography and zinc was determined by flame atomic absorption spectrometry. The results show that the average level of serum vitamin A in the population is 2.30μmol / L. Male vitamin A levels were significantly higher than women. The level of vitamin A in women tends to increase significantly with age, whereas the level of vitamin A in women of all ages studied is relatively stable. The average serum zinc level is 18.20μmol / L. There was no significant difference in zinc levels between men and women. Zinc levels have a marked downward trend with age, especially in the male population. The study concluded that the results provide baseline data for serum vitamin A and zinc levels in healthy populations in northeastern Thailand.
