From 1871, Yale opened a Chinese course to this day, the United States has experienced Chinese teaching for more than 140 years. In the meantime, three ancestors deserve special recall: Zubin, who successfully promoted Chinese teaching to primary and secondary schools, De Fan Ke, who wrote Chinese textbooks popular in the Western world, and Zhao Yuanren, who started the study of modern Chinese linguistics. Based on the memory of the contributions made by the three ancestors, this article explores the conditions and factors for the spread of Chinese in the United States and provides references for the study of the theory and practice of Chinese international communication.
