The expression of HLA-DR and HLA-DQ antigen in peripheral blood mononuclear cells of untreated patients with Graves disease and healthy people was detected by indirect immunofluorescence technique. The levels of T_3, T_4 and TSH in patients with Graves disease were compared with those in monocytes -DR and HLA-DQ antigen expression between the correlation. The results showed that the percentage of HLA-DR ~ + and HLA-DQ ~ + monocytes (57.42 ± 8.73% and 20.92 ± 7.28%, ± s, respectively) in patients were significantly lower than those in normal controls (79.92 ± 5.74% And 40.33 ± 6.34% respectively, ± s, P <0.001). There was a significant positive correlation between serum TSH level and the expression of HLA-DQ antigen on mononuclear cell membrane (r = 0.687, P <0.05). These results suggest that monocyte abnormalities exist in Graves’ disease.
