近代冯特开创的以科学实验为基础的科学心理学是在西方哲学思想孕育下,以受西方文化熏陶的白种人为研究对象的西方本土心理学。对于有着深厚文化根基的中国来说,西方心理学的传入意味着外来文化的侵入,如何消化和融合外来文化和中国文化的冲突,使之更好的为中国人所用,是中国学科带头人的首要任务。大陆和港台心理学界分别从不同出发点掀起“本土化”热潮正是中国学者对该问题的积极回应。
