美国19世纪浪漫主义小说家纳撒尼尔.霍桑的小说《红字》一经面世,便引起了文学界的热烈讨论。其对美国社会法典的残酷,宗教的欺骗和道德的虚伪的揭露可谓是淋漓尽致。笔者意在通过对小说《红字》中修辞方法及布局谋篇等文体学相关要素的分析,进一步加深对作品的理解以及对文体学理论的认识。
Natalie Hawthorne’s novel “The Scarlet Letter”, a 19th-century American romantic novelist, was launched into a heated discussion in the literary world. Its cruelty to American social code, religious deception and moral hypocrisy can be described as vividly. The author intends to further understand the works and understand the theory of stylistics through the analysis of the relevant elements of stylistics such as the rhetorical method and layout in the novel “The Scarlet Letter”.
