With the release of chemical mediators caused by antigen-antibody reaction, nasal mucosa hyperreactivity plays a major role in the development of nasal allergy symptoms. Nasal mucosa over-reactivity caused by two aspects: ① nasal mucosal sensory system increased sensitivity; ② and mucosal hypersensitivity unrelated to organ overreactivity. Vasomotor rhinitis is thought to be caused by excessive nasal mucosal parasympathetic tension, but severe rhinorrhea and nasal mucosal swelling can be caused by the excessive release of acetylcholine from parasympathetic nerve terminals, which is secondary to excessive sensation of mucosal hypersensitivity impulse.
