Ultrashort mid-infrared pulses are very important for studying physics, chemistry, biology, and ultrafast processes in semiconductors. The methods of parametric oscillation, difference frequency generation and parametric amplification to generate ultrashort mid-infrared laser pulses are introduced, and the latest research progress at home and abroad are introduced.
