公元一千九百五十九年十二月二十八日,太阳刚从哈密地平线上冉冉升起,农五师的历史便掀开了崭新的一页:农五师西迁先遣队出发了。以师长翟振华为首的15人西迁先遣队于1959年12月31日到达乌鲁木齐,他们在乌鲁木齐过完元旦后,即刻向新的战场——博尔塔拉进发。兵团政治部主任王季龙、干部部副部长邸舟也驱车同行,他们代表兵团党委与博尔塔拉蒙古自治州(以下简称博州)党委接洽农五师进驻博州工作。
