2001年8月15日,山西煤化所被中国科学院党组批准进入国家知识创新工程试点二期序列。作为位于较不发达地区、且在知识创新工程试点行列起步较晚的研究机构,山西煤化所博采众长,广泛学习兄弟院所的先进经验,秉承“爱所敬业、求真务实、崇尚创新、协力奋进”的煤化人精神,练内功、求发展,使有着47年历史的山西煤化所呈现出一派勃勃生机。把创新化为内在的永恒追求通过务实具体的工作做三个代表的忠实实践者山西煤化所创建于1954年,是我国屈指可数的专门从事煤炭能源转化及相关领域高技术研究与发展的科研机构之一。40余年来,经过几代科研人员的不懈努力,已逐步形成了从基础和应用研究到技术过程开发和成果转化较为完备的科研与开发结构体系。自1998年通过中科院高技术基地型研究所的分类定位以来,山西煤化所经历了自身发展史上具有重要意义的重新调整和从谋求生存转向快速发展的过程。遵循江泽民总书记关于“创新是一个民族的灵魂,是一个国家兴旺发达的不竭动力”的论述,山西煤化所坚持发展是硬道理、深化改革是出路的指导思想,把创新化为
