我的目标落实得如何呢?坦率地讲,不太好。如果你当面听我讲这个故事,从口音你就能断定出我不是土生土长的美国人。我的家远在俄罗斯的圣彼得堡。3年前,因为爸爸受邀到波士顿某所高校任教,我们举家迁居到这座城市。来美国之前,我的英语已经相当不错,可一想到置身异国他乡,我就感到惴惴不安。一方面,我在美国没有一个朋友;另一方面,作为家里三个孩子中最大的一个,我觉得我有责任为弟弟妹妹树立学习榜样,也让爸妈为我骄傲自豪。
How is my goal going? Frankly, not very good. If you listen to me in person, you can tell from the accent that I’m not a native American. My home is far from St. Petersburg in Russia. Three years ago, because my dad was invited to teach at a university in Boston, we moved to his hometown. Before I came to the United States, my English was quite good, but I felt uneasy when I thought about being in a foreign country. On the one hand, I do not have a friend in the United States. On the other hand, as the largest of the three children in the family, I feel that I have a responsibility to set an example for my younger brother and sister and make my parents proud of me.
