建宁县1984年5月31日至6月1日全县普降暴雨,西部南部4公社44小时内降雨量达346.5毫米和240.6毫米。大雨之后,山洪暴发,酿成了灾害。全县计淹没稻田9.14万亩(其中毁灭性1.42万亩);经济作物1.55万亩(其中毁灭性0.73万亩);冲毁民房1793间,2.69万平方米;公路、桥梁遭到严重破坏;小型水利工程、社队公共建筑、乡镇企业和县属企业也遭受了不同程度的破坏;还有人身伤亡。这些直接损失,金额达1753万元。
