Forest fires are a serious destructive factor for all forests, but often have devastating consequences for subalpine coniferous forests. According to preliminary statistics from Deqing Prefecture, a total of 478 forest fires occurred during 1975-1983 with a total area of 480,000 mu, equivalent to 11 times the logging area of Diqing Prefecture and 4.8 times of the reforestation area. Resource loss is equivalent to 7-8 times the amount of logging over the same period. In addition to the serious economic losses, the forest fires in the subtropical coniferous forest region have characteristics of long duration, large area of fire, underground fires, and the destruction of forest soil and vegetation. In the event of a forest fire, it is often inevitable that the tree line will fall, the snow line will rise, and serious soil and water flow
