鼓掌致意是各种仪式场合常用的礼节形式。人们对他人表示祝贺、欢迎、欢送、鼓励甚至表达消极情感时均常会用击掌的方式表达内心之情。作为一种表达方式,鼓掌能否恰到好处、得体、适度,显示了一个人的文化素养和品德修养。鼓掌的动作一般是,双臂抬起,手掌放在齐胸高的位置,张开左掌,用并拢的右手四指(拇指除外)轻拍左手手掌中部,同时有呼应得体的表情。鼓掌的方式有多种。在不同的仪式场合,不同的掌声应与不同的气氛相协调。掌声热烈密集,伴随着兴奋的欢呼适于热烈的体育比赛场合;仪态端庄,掌声节制,适合会议等正规场合;面带微笑,轻轻拍打手掌,表示自己对别人祝贺的心情,适合颁奖的场合。在大型活动中,如大规模的庆典、庆功仪式上,一片掌声能增加会场的热烈气氛。
