四电解标准水银及隔膜电槽的各项异点,具见表三。选作比较的电槽,是八千安培的Hooker 电槽及一万三千安培的I.G.七米水平电槽。看了表三及表四,我们就可明白,隔膜法的电槽间(CeH room)布置,远较才银法为紧凑,雀钱。一个主要原因是,水银电槽每单位产量所需的地面天生就比较大些。同时,一般的习惯认为把水银电槽装在楼上比较好,因此厂房的高度又得比例地增加,而隔膜电槽却总是装在底层的。第二个水银电槽比较贵的原因是很多机件必需衬橡皮,而水银流过的赤裸金属平板面,必须很仔细地加工。此外,水银的循环需用抽机,而水银本身就是一种贵重的金属。水银法的厂房装置费比较贵的原因,则因所需管件的数量比较大,需有架空起重设备以升降电槽
