The cooperative innovation model is different from the one where “start-up companies initiate innovation and buy by big companies.” Instead, multinational corporations themselves co-sponsor and implement an innovation process that is subsequently commercialized. One early in the autumn, at a beer factory near Tempelhof Airport in Berlin, a group of people gathered beside an idle production line to discuss how to integrate innovations in their respective industries in ways they never had before. Do not assume that the group of people who came together to create the temporary barrel as a keg are a group of startups or geeks from start-ups. In fact, they all come from large knowledge without exception
