It is understood that about 16,000 primary and middle school students die abnormally each year in China. According to figures released by the National Children and Youth “Ankang Project” Committee, in the middle of 2000, primary and middle school students died on stairs of housing, food poisoning, drowning, suicide, etc., and an average of more than 40 people each day, which means that there are nearly one class per day. The student is disappearing. According to a nationwide survey conducted by the China Youth Research Center from 2001 to 2002, security accidents have become the first cause of death for children under the age of 14. The “Chinese Youth Safe Action” activity organized by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Public Security, and the National Working Committee for the Shaoxing Little People carried out surveys on the safety of primary and secondary school students in 10 provinces and cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangdong and Shaanxi. The parents’ concern that the children were harmed was as follows: schools accounted for 51.44%; public places accounted for 36.32%; natural environments accounted for 10.44%; and families accounted for 1.8%. This survey shows that schools compete to become the places where parents are most worried about children being harmed.
