目前中学地理教学中地理思想与方法研究取得的主要成果有:在主要内容和实施途径方面提出了多种观点;系统思想是自然地理的重要思想;区位论的思想是人文地理的核心思想;综合分析法与比较法是区域地理的重要方法;地图法是研究最深入、最广泛的地理方法。同时也存在着一些问题:研究意识薄弱;内容的研究处于起步阶段;对地理教材中的地理思想与方法研究力度不够。因此,必须要加强地理思想与方法研究意识,树立地理思想与方法教学观念,多层次、多角度地开展中学地理教学中地理思想与方法研究,深入研究中学地理教材中的地理思想与方法,以更好地发挥地理教材的教育功能。
