现代经济学教育,表现出强烈的“理科特性”。经济学课本上讲述的道理真正学懂了没有,一定要通过练习和作业,才能得到检验。事实上,练习和作业,是加深对经济学道理的理解的重要途径。斯蒂格利茨《经济学》在我国翻译出版以来,好评如潮。只要读过这本巨著的一些章节,读者都有一种学到不少东西的满足感。高深的经济学道理能够阐述得这样准确、生动、浅显,实在难能可贵。现代经济学教育,表现出强烈的“理科特性”。经济学课本上讲述的道理真正学懂了没有,一定要通过练习和作业,才能得到检验。事实上,练习和作业,是加深对经济学道理的理解的重要途径。1989年我首次完全采用国外流行的原版教材讲授微观经济学的时候,就规定准备参加考试获取学分的学生必须做作业。我还记得很清楚,考试的时候,有一个不做作业的明星研究生也一定要求参加,并且说一直很喜欢我讲的这门课,觉得自己学得不错。我说,你不做习题,怎么能学得很好呢?我相信他喜欢听我这门课的表白是真诚的,但是判断他自以为学得不错的感觉不可靠,不真实。僵持了一会儿以后,那些做作业的学生已经开始进入考试解题的时候,我想,既然他那样坚持,退让一步让他体会一下也好,就给了一份卷子给他。
