According to the U.S. publication Strategy and Tactics, No. 61, 1977, the U.S. Army is developing a new 2.75-inch rocket warhead with seven bullets at the rocket head. Each bullet is as large as a fist, loaded with a hollow charge warhead, can penetrate the tank. Since the Vietnam War, 2.75-inch rockets have been used by attack helicopters. The main drawback is the poor precision. Because of the lack of guidance and the poor stability, it is a “drained” rocket. The rocket originally designed for high-speed aircraft, when the accuracy of low speed is not good. Helicopters fitted with two 2.75-inch rocket launchers, equipped with a new warhead, it can launch intensive anti-tank firepower, making it an effective anti-tank weapon. The new warhead is at a pilot stage and there are still some pitfalls for correctly opening the tail of the bullet.
