220年前,美利坚尚在襁褓之中。拉斯维加斯还只是西部莫哈韦沙漠中的一块发霉的湿地。两边的山脉比月球还要秃荒。 拉斯维加斯的夏天如油锅般酷热,只有稀少的地下渗水供部分草类生存。拉斯维加斯的动植物也因此异常凶险。 当时到这里探险的西班牙人称拉斯维加斯为“草地”。
220 years ago, the United States is still in its infancy. Las Vegas is also a moldy wetland in the western Mojave Desert. On both sides of the mountains even more barren than the moon. The summer in Las Vegas is as hot as a pan, with only subsurface infiltration for some of the grass to survive. Las animals and plants are therefore extremely dangerous. The Spaniards who were expeditioned here called Las Vegas the “lawn.”
