《养老寿亲新书》曰:“老人之性,皆厌于药而喜于食,以食治疾,胜于用药。凡老人有患,宜先以食治,食治不宜,然后命药”;金·刘完素亦提出“饮食者养其精”的治则,主张“餐精华”以食补之。清·曹庭栋提出了“粥能益人,老年尤宜”的著名论点,并撰《粥谱》一卷,采撷具有保健与治疾作用的粥方计百种,“聊备老年之调治”。至此,老年人的粥养粥治已初具规模,为世人之重视。糜粥益于老人,究其原因有四:一曰,“粳米粥为资生化育三神丹,糯米粥为温养
