学术界对庞德翻译的中国古典作品褒贬不一,以他的英译汉诗为例,其中就不乏对原作的误读之处。但是庞德在汉诗英译的过程中坚持不懈地探索对语言进行处理的有效方法,为翻译理论和实践做出了前所未有的贡献。他不是拘泥于每一个词、每一个语法点的翻译,而是致力于对原作含义的再创作,力求传达中国诗歌的神韵。因此庞德的译作是在创作的意义上对中国古典作品进行重构。
Academic circles have mixed reviews of Pound’s classical Chinese works. Taking his English-Chinese poems as examples, there is no lack of misreading of the original works. However, in the process of translating Chinese poetry, Pound persistently explores effective ways to deal with the language and makes an unprecedented contribution to translation theory and practice. He is not rigidly adhere to every word, every point of grammar translation, but rather committed to the re-creation of the original meaning, and strive to convey the charm of Chinese poetry. So Pound’s translation is the reconstruction of Chinese classical works in the sense of creation.
