公路公共艺术不同于其他公共艺术,它必须顾及到作为主体的人的视觉特征和心理特征,因为驾驶过程是一个动态过程。公路公共艺术的独特之处就在于此。早在1937年,就有人写了《汽车驾驶中人类的局限性》一书,其中提到驾驶员的空间感知随速度提高而减弱。有过驾驶经验的人都知道:假如在单调的、缺乏视觉刺激的长直路段上行驶,驾驶员的知觉敏锐性会降低,容易感到疲乏,注意力也会分散。换句话说,如果在上述公路上设计一些合理的公共艺术作品,就能够调节驾驶员的视觉注意
