  I’m Eighteen!

Host: No, I was 1)clumsily trying to wish you a happy birthday.
  Selena Gomez: Thank you.
Host: When did you turn 18?
  Selena: July 22nd.
Host: Well, there you go. And a big party? Not a big party? What do you do when you’re 18?
Selena: No, I mean everybody said it was gonna be exciting, and you know, you’re gonna be an adult, but nothing changed.
  Host: Hmm.
Selena: I’m still with my parents.
Host: Still living with your parents?
  Selena: Yeah.
Host: Why are you still living with your parents?
Selena: It’s like a safety net. I love having them right there just in case something happens.
Host: Well, that’s great. That to me, says—I think this is what this says, although I’m having so much trouble tonight. I think it says that they did a very nice job with you in your family.
Selena: Well, they’d appreciate that. Thank you.
Host: I think that, yeah, because when I was 18, even before, all I wanted to do was get out and stay out.
Selena: Awe. My mom’s been very sweet to me…
  Host: Yeah.
  Selena: …and my stepdad, so…

Host: Well you can drive anyway. Do you drive?
Selena: I finally got my license…
  Host: Good.
Selena: …after…after a long time. So happy.
Host: And do you have a car and stuff?
Selena: I do. I got a car on my 16th birthday, and it sat in the corner for two years, and I got my license and now I can drive my Ford Escape Hybrid.
  Host: Whoa, it’s a hybrid!
  Selena: Yeah.
Host: Does it work? Does it break down on you? You have…
  Selena: No. It’s good. I…
Host: How many miles…but you never have to go to the—what is a hybrid?
  Selena: I don’t really know.
Host: Yeah, I don’t really know.

Host:(Taking out a photo of Selena and Justin Bieber) This is you and Justin Bieber. You know where this was taken?
Selena: The 2)Vanity Fair “Oscar” party.
Host: That’s right. February 27th. Is…he was your date? Are you…you’re dating. Are you dating or not dating?
Selena: It was like a little prom night, wasn’t it? Look like it.
Host: You guys look very happy there. How long have you known him?
  Selena: Almost, like, two years.
Host: Two years. Where did you meet? These people gotta meet somewhere, right?
Selena: Yes. Actually his manager called my mom who’s my manager…
Host: I heard he was your paperboy.
  Selena: I’m blushing.
Host: Yeah. But is there, I mean, you’re…I don’t know, are you dating? You’re not dating.
Selena: He’s been in my life for so long and it’s just nice to have someone that understands what you’re going through.

  Yogurt or Yoga?

Host: Do you like going all over the world? Do you travel all over the world and stuff?
  Selena: I do.
Host: Where do you go? Where’ve you been?
Selena: I’ve been to lots of places: been to Spain, Germany…
  Host: What’s it like?
  Selena: It’s…it’s hard in Germany.
Host: Germany? Yeah, why, because of the language?
  Selena: Yeah.
  Host: Difficult language.
Selena: Well, it’s like even when they’re saying something nice it just sounds like they’re angry with me.
  Host: OK.
  Selena: And it’s…
Host: They…they are: believe me, they’re angry. So you have to use an interpreter, obviously.
Selena: Yes, but sometimes what they do is—and they’re so sweet—they try to speak English as best as they can, and one in particular, this lady in an interview asked me—she was, like, “So do you do yoga?” and I thought she said yogurt. And I was, like, “Yeah, I love going getting yogurt; it’s fun.” She’s like, “Oh, that’s great,” so I have a 15-minute-conversation with this lady, and she’s like, “So what studio do you go to?” and I was like, “Oh, this yogurt place called Menchees, and she was like, “Oh, that’s great,” so like the positions and stuff, and I was, like, “What? Positions!” I just…I’m like…
  Host: Oh, man!
Selena: No, I said yogurt, so I don’t think she even put me in her magazine that month at all, but it was fun.
Host: There might be you going for yogurt you might have a favorite position.
