文章把抗战时期美国记者在中共控制区域的活动放到抗日战争以及中美关系的背景下进行考察。认为这一时期美国记者在中共控制区域除了进行采访报道之外，部分还作为反法西斯人士直接或间接地帮助中国抗战，以及作为另一种文化的载体和特殊的信息源与中共进行交流。他们的活动，总体上是有利于中国抗战和社会进步的，构成了中美交往史上友好的一章 The article examines the activities of American journalists in the areas under their control during the War of Resistance Against Japan against the Sino-Japanese War and the Sino-U.S. Relations. He thought that during this period, apart from conducting coverage in the CCP’s controlled area, some of them also played an anti-fascist role directly or indirectly in helping China’s war of resistance against Japan and as a carrier of another culture and a special source of information with the CPC. Their activities, on the whole, are conducive to China’s war of resistance and social progress and constitute a chapter in the history of friendship between China and the United States.
