英语是中学阶段(甚至小学五、六年级)的基础学科,英语教育越来越受到重视,取得了可喜的效果。但反思中学的英语教学,情况并不能令人满意。由于缺乏英语语境,学生每天只在英语课堂的四十分钟时间内接触英语,然后又回到母语环境中,这使得有相当一部分学生对英语不像对待母语那样作为一种需要(用汉语读、写、交际)来学,而是作为一种工具来学。其结果是,学了七、八年英语的高中毕业生,听不懂也说不出的“哑巴英语” English is a basic subject in the middle school stage (even in the fifth and sixth grades of primary school).
