Ivon Bodis-Wollner, professor of neurology and ophthalmology at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York, USA, gave a lecture in Beijing in October 1985. Introduce some new understanding of the method of visual evoked potential (VEP) and the progress in recent years. We know that neurons in the visual pathway have a certain receptive field and can be divided into a central centrae field and a peripheral field. When both are stimulated, antagonistic effect occurs, so that the reaction potential becomes smaller, only to stimulate the central visual field, the reaction was the largest, and with the illumination range increases. Each receptive field has a directional orientation of the ganglion cells and lateral geniculate cells
