Transformations of 17 of the classic Green Fairy tales by American woman poet Anne Sexton’s 1971 poetry collection were boldly rewritten. In the light of modern social background, the poet subverts and reshapes the fairy tales and characters in the perspective of modern people. While satirizing the false and deliberate preaching of the fairy tales, the poet incorporates profound thinking on the life style and values of contemporary people. The “Little Red Riding Hood ” poem embodies the characteristics of the deceptive, repetitive and unitary consumption culture, as well as its destructive effect on the individual’s initiative and initiative.
