Objective: To investigate the clinical significance of preserving intercostobrachial nerve in axillary lymph node dissection of breast cancer. Methods: Between 2001 and 2006, 46 patients with stage Ⅰ and Ⅱ breast cancer underwent lymphadenectomy. 32 cases of intercostobrachial nerves were reserved and 14 cases of intercostobrachial nerve were excised. The patients were followed up Observation and follow-up. Results: Thirty patients (93.8%) had sensory abnormalities in the medial upper arm and the axillary skin in 32 patients with intercostobrachial nerves, and 3 patients (6.2%) had sensory abnormalities. All 14 patients who had intercostobrachial nerve had feeling abnormal. Follow-up 1-5 years, 46 cases were no local recurrence. CONCLUSIONS: It is feasible to preserve the intercostobrachial nerve in lymphadenectomy of stage Ⅰ and Ⅱ breast cancer. It preserves the skin sensory function of the medial and axillary upper limbs and improves the postoperative quality of life of patients with good The clinical value.
