Three tombs at Jiunüdun of Daizhuang Town in Pizhou City, Jiangsu Province, were excavated in 1982 and 1997. Of them M4 and M6 are wooden-chambered earthen pits, and M5 is a rock pit, also furnished with a wooden chamber. Having a ramping passage each, they look like the character “凸” in plan. M6 is larger in size and contains two accompanying burials in the passage and three lacquered funeral coffins around the chamber. The funeral objects unearthed from the tombs total 71 pieces/sets, including ceramics, bronzes, jades and stone artifacts. These graves must have belonged to the high-rank aristocracy of the Xu State in the late Spring-and-Autumn period. Their excavation is of great value to understanding the history of the then Xu State and the relationship between the Xu and the Wu states.
