贾平凹1990年代系列长篇小说——《废都》、《白夜》、《土门》、《高老庄》是作家自觉放弃启蒙、寻根的叙事姿态,用一种民间视野、平民姿态、生活流的方式叙写那些带有浓郁自身镜像的生存经验的产物。这种叙写,因为密切关联于作家的个体经验,便具有了不同于作家之前执著于启蒙、寻根热忱小说的叙事文体特征。1.叙事话语浓郁的生活气息与90年代前被改革神话及文化观照所支配的文学叙事不同,贾平凹90年代长篇小说的叙事则在平民视野中,讲述自身生存经验,从而使叙事话语体现出浓郁鲜活的生活气息。
