一、侗语地名研究的意义 地名是地方的名称。每一个地名都是人们对在地理环境中具有特定位置、范围及形态特征的地方所共同约定的语言符号。 地名是在历史上形成的,是人们对客观地理实体主观认识的产物。由于时代不同,人们对自然环境认识的不同和自然开发利用水平的不同,以及一个地方居住过居民的不同,这些都极可能在地名中得到反映。一个地方的地名一般总是由最先滋长生息在那里的民族,以其语言来命名的。由于语言或方言具有民族、时代和地域特征,因而地名也具有民族、时代和地域特征。 地名学是研究地名的起源、含义、特点、演变和分布规律的一门学科。侗语地名是侗族人民用侗语对自己居地的命名。本文拟通过对各地侗语地名的调查分析,来探求侗语地名的得名、含义、特点和结构规律以及汉译等问题。 二、侗语地名的结构 语言、语法、词汇是语言构成的三要素。语言研究就是探求语言的语音、语法、词汇的结构规律。地名是语言的一部分,地名研究当然也要探求地名的语音、语法、词汇的结构规律。 侗语地名大都是双音节,也有一部分单音节和个别多音节。例如: 单音节地名:
First, the meaning of geographical names in Dong language Place names are the names of places. Each place name is a linguistic symbol that people commonly agree on where they have particular locations, ranges and morphological features in their geographical environment. Place names are formed in history and are the product of people’s subjective understanding of objective geographical entities. Due to the different times, different people’s understanding of the natural environment and the different levels of natural development and utilization, as well as the difference in residence of residents in one place, are most likely to be reflected in place names.
