从土楼及闽南人的缘起这两条线索出发,可以追寻到中华农业文明的轨迹。首先,土楼所展现的文明起于土地,扎根于土地,内求于己,他没有海洋文明的扩张性。其次,从己到家再到家族而向外扩散的差序格局在这里鲜明呈现。祖先崇拜是最普遍的信仰。非一神信仰的信仰结构把这样的文明推向普世文明的方向,对外来文化呈兼容并包之势。土楼是中华农业文明的一个缩影,它的未来将往何处去,同也正是中华农业文明向何处去的问题。
