山东省冶金科学研究院是集科、工、贸于一体的地方冶金科研机构,主要从事钢铁冶金、金属压力加工、采矿、选矿、金属表面科学、冶金工业自动化、金属材料及热处理等领域的研究和开发。该院现有在职人员314人,其中高级工程师38人,各类技术人员占全院人数的2/3,设有磁性材料、冶金标样、耐磨金属新材料及制品、有色金属材料、工业自动化、表面科学与工程:氧枪喷头、冶金工艺、防腐工程等10个研究室和实验工厂。该院科研力量雄厚,先后取得科研成果211项,其中达到国际先进水平的40项,填补国内空白55项,获省部以上科技成果奖22项,其中国家级4项,有2项成果入选1995年国家科技成果重点推广计划项目,7项产品被国家计委、经贸委、科委推荐为优秀节能新产品,1项成果被列入1995年国家火炬计划。
