The Revolution of 1911 that broke out a hundred years ago in the vast land of China shocked the world and prized history. The monarchy that stubbornly lasted over 2,000 years has thus been overthrown. Despite repeated twists and turns, the ideal of a democratic republic has merged into an irreversible historical trend. Many great changes and evolutions in contemporary China originate from that era of “great changes”. For the Centenary of the Revolution of 1911, the memory of the truth of history must be remembered. In this issue of planning, there are not only the grand retrospectives of the major events of the Revolution of 1911 and the pivotal characters, but also the alternative observations from the perspective of the financial dilemma of the Qing court and the personal fate of the Empress Dowager Long Yu. This magazine attempts to provide readers a multi-angle historical memories, review the changing situation a hundred years ago. Of course, remembrance should not be confined to mere memories, but it also needs to tap the spiritual clues in historical heritage. To this end, this publication has always been concerned with “democracy, the rule of law, constitutional government ” as the starting point, trying to analyze what kind of important institutional achievements and the ups and downs of the fiery flames of the Revolution of 1911 fueled. Another issue we are trying to explore is whether the ideological legacy left behind by the Revolution of 1911 can be used as a reference point for the current reform of China, especially the political system. Expectations of this publication, from a hundred years of Xinhai to a century of republics, through such recalls and thinking, can go beyond history and into the future, as the best memory of the Revolution of 1911.
