Children’s Independent Activity (CIM) refers to the extent to which children under the age of 18 are active in public spaces without an adult companion. The rapid decline in children’s independent activity, both in developing and developed countries, has had a number of negative effects on individuals and society: increased use of cars and other vehicles to send children to school and play; increased use of children’s and adults’ daily physical education Reduced activity; increased rates of childhood obesity; reduced use of public spaces such as parks and streets; and increased fear of strangers around us in the city.
