The diverse linguistic environment in Malaysia and the imbalanced status of various languages have led to various forms of language relocation. As a variant of the city, Chinese-language Malaysian newspapers have absorbed many elements that are not found in the standard Chinese of mainland China and formed their own characteristics. As the most logical and most stable commentary in the news language, it can best reflect the application of a country’s language specification. Based on the commentary page of Sin Chew Daily, the largest Chinese-language newspaper in Malaysia, this article summarizes some commonly used function words and discusses the necessity and feasibility of regulating Chinese written language.
