张家界市是中国第一个国家森林公园、首批国家5A级景区的城市。2014年8月,张家界市开始创建国家森林城市,构建“一区二沿三带四片多点”的森林网络空间格局,并大力实施城区绿化攻坚工程、森林文化建设等9大工程,取得明显成效。目前,森林覆盖率达69.62%,旅游与生态宜居绿色家园的梦想正在不断变成现实。
