“乡绅”既是中国传统文化中的一种奇特现象,也是中国现代乡土文学中的一个表现内容。启蒙文学将“乡绅”视为封建社会的残渣余孽,左翼革命文学将“乡绅”视为中国农村的反动势力,自由主义文学则将其视为维系传统的中坚力量。而每一种认知历史的价值尺度,又都呈现出爱憎分明的单一性色彩。因此我个人认为,“乡绅”叙事的多元化结构,既生动地反映了中国现代文学审美形态的多样性原则,又从不同角度反映了知识精英“救亡图存”的人文理想,它是一种非常值得我们去注意和研究的文学现象。
“Squire ” is not only a peculiar phenomenon in Chinese traditional culture, but also an expression in modern Chinese native literature. Enlightenment literature regards “gentry ” as the remnant of feudal society, left-wing revolutionary literature regards “gentry ” as the reactionary force in rural China, and liberal literature treats it as the nucleus of maintaining the tradition. The value scale of every kind of cognitive history shows the unity of love and hate. Therefore, I personally think that the plural structure of the “gentry” narrative not only vividly reflects the principle of diversity in the aesthetic form of modern Chinese literature, but also reflects the humanist ideal of “elitist survival” from different angles A literary phenomenon that deserves our attention and study.
