Glaze sand and glass are the original stage of glass products, the internal structure and chemical composition are different from the mature glass. Glaze sand and grit are not completely glassy materials, but a mixture of partially vitreous and crystalline quartz sand. The main difference between the enamel sand and the glass sand lies in the difference between the two firing temperatures and the resulting degree of vitrification. However, due to the difficulty of determining the firing temperature and the degree of vitrification, and the possible confusion in use, it is advisable to discard the glass grit and use only the term glaze sand to name such articles in the initial stages of glass development. Glaze sand creates the necessary conditions for the subsequent maturation of the glass in the formulation of raw materials and firing processes, etc. Therefore, the glaze can be considered the predecessor of the glass or may be called “original glass”.
