In July and August 1947, the Kuomintang government promulgated a decree that banned sex ballrooms throughout the country. Thousands of dancers in Shanghai became angry at the thrall of the unemployed and destroyed the Shanghai Socialist Building in the afternoon of January 31, 1948, owing to the hasty execution and lack of good preparedness. With great social and political pressure, the Kuomintang government was forced (in fact) to recover its life and took leniency to dozens of leading dancers and workers. Is an overview of the tide of the tide. This essay is an oral summary of the interview with the dancer leader Chen Huiling (nicknamed “Mei Mei Hong”).
