郭化如,原名郭占荣,1910年12月9日出生于武山县郭槐乡郭家庄一个贫苦农民家中。1933年,为生活所迫,郭化如到国民党军队里当了兵。期间,他结识了在同一部队当排长的毛得功、杨友柏等贫苦兄弟。由于有着共同的遭遇,又是邻近县的老乡,他们在交往中结下了深厚友谊。并在共产党的影响、感召下,走上了武装反抗国民党反动派的道路。1943年大年初一,毛得功、郭化如 Guohua Ru, formerly known as Guo Zhanrong, December 9, 1910 was born in Wushan County, Guo Huai Guo Guozhuang a poor peasant family.
