With the rapid development of China’s foreign trade, China’s carbon emissions continue to increase also criticized by the world. This article uses panel data from 1990 to 2010 in China to compare the effects of trade liberalization on carbon emissions in the three major eastern, central and western regions. The results show that under the conditions of per capita income and policy factors, the dependence on foreign trade and the degree of foreign investment on the eastern region have negative effects on carbon emissions, but the former are not statistically significant. The dependence on foreign trade on the central region is significant for carbon emissions Positive effect, while the degree of dependence on foreign investment has a significant negative effect on carbon emissions; the dependence on foreign trade and foreign investment in the western region have a positive effect on carbon emissions, but not statistically significant.
