董仲舒的经学思想涉及到某些文艺问题 ,其中有创见或新意者 ,是他的“《诗》无达诂”说和“中和之美”说。“《诗》无达诂”严格说并不是一种真正意义上的文学思想 ,而是“物莫无邻 ,察视其外 ,可以见其内”、“见其指者 ,不任其辞”的经典解读方法。它对于文学思想的价值 ,是给文学阅读活动提供了认识上的重要启发。“中和之美”说对先秦儒家的“中和”思想作出了新的解释 ,董子把它纳入到顺天法地、天人相应的思想体系中 ,由天地具有“中和之美”而落实为人的修心养性功夫。因此 ,“中和之美”说也并不是本色的文学思想。但是 ,由于它涉及到了人的情感 ,认为怒、喜、忧、惧皆宜“反中”,就包含了人的情感应当如何表现的问题 ,从而具有了一定的文学思想的意义
