Public art is now in full swing in major cities in China. As an important part of mural painting, mural paintings are getting more and more attention from many artists and populace. The resulting discussion about contemporary murals and conferences are numerous, and the topics currently discussed are the relationship between murals and the built environment, murals and space issues. Here I avoid the fresco art from space and architecture, and from the audience’s point of view to find out how to make our frescoes closer to the definition of public art, then the material closest to the audience should be material. This article selects the most used materials in public works of art for analysis, hoping to find a little breakthrough in perception of the audience from the material aspect.
