粤讴是广州民间说唱艺术,清代文人招子庸改造、雅化的《粤讴》,保留了民间艺术的笃情特征,清末民初的新粤讴运动将粤讴作为“开启民智”的工具。从小流徙闽粤一带的许地山,与粤讴结有不解之缘,他对粤讴的研究以及创作上的借鉴延续了招子庸强调粤讴“其意悲以柔,其词婉而挚”的传“情”特征,体现出五四文学中一种特殊的笃情基调和一咏三叹的艺术表达。这种别具一格的创作,实际上与周作人、林语堂的散文,废名、沈从文的小说一起,体现了新文学发展中的另一类倾向,即新文学中的文人化重美感品韵味的美学倾向。
