“苗族灵歌”是特属于生活在中国西南乌蒙山区苗族信徒的宗教圣歌,以主要聚居于滇东北、黔西北的苗族支系(大花苗族)为主要产生、传播、传承载体。它是西方基督教在中国西南少数民族地区本土化过程中衍生出的一种新的宗教音乐文化类型,是外来文化与本土文化双向改造的结果。苗族灵歌产生的历史背景和群体背景与蜚声世界的黑人灵歌之间存在诸多相似之处,作为遗存于中国西南少数民族地区的一种奇特的文化和文学现象,苗族灵歌应该得到学界更多的观照和重视。
